Stay Strong New York

Recently, as I was passing by New York City after doing a charity shoot for New Jersey and New York front-liners, I witnessed how this iconic city looks like without the busy crowd. I am so impressed by how this community of one of the busiest metropolitan cities in the world becomes so united as they practice social distancing during this time of the pandemic. These following images froze a moment in history that tells the story of this city during the Coronavirus lockdown. When the day comes when we return to our normal lives, the lights of this city will once again inspire us. But for now, Stay Strong, New York.

I just want to share our current adventure to everyone as we take a short break after a hectic 1st part of our wedding season. We travel to Europe and are exploring a few of our favorite destinations photographically. First is Valencia, Spain – the third largest city in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona. Valencia was founded as a Roman colony in 138 BC. The city is situated on the banks of the Turia, on the east coast of the Iberian Peninsula, fronting the Gulf of Valencia on the Mediterranean Sea.

While in Valencia we visited a few of the important historical land marks of the city. First is the Valencia Cathedral, the home to the mythical Holy Grail (believed to be the chalice where Jesus drank of during the last supper) for over 500 years.

In commemoration of Good Friday, I wanted to share some of my works on a photo documentary  I did in the Philippines on the Holy Friday Crucifixions, a tradition dating back hundreds of years.

A special prayer for those who are suffering from any pain, physically or emotionally in this special day of Holy Friday.

What a treat after a long tiring trip. Here’s a view from last night. I slept well and woke up at 6 AM to attend the first conference. It’s going to be an awesome educational day in photojournalism!

Today, January 20, 2009, Barack Obama is going to be sworn in as the nation’s first African-American president.  On Saturday, January 17, 2009, he undertook an historical whistle-stop journey by train, which symbolically links him to our nation’s first President, Abraham Lincoln.   Like Lincoln, who traveled by rail from Philadelphia to Washington on the last leg of his journey to be sworn in for his first term in 1861, Obama too had traveled from the birthplace of the nation’s democracy to the capital city. On his way to DC, he made a historic stop in Wilmington, Delaware, where Delaware native Vice-president elect Joe Biden joined him in his journey. I am fortunate to be a part of documenting this event.

I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to capture this historical moment in photographs. Though it was below 20 degrees out there today, I braved the low temperatures to be part of this important coverage. My team of photographers were amazing!
